Christopher Gibbard took bragging rights over his coach by winning the Welsh Championship event over 10 miles in Monmouthshire. The Bynea CC rider came into the race with seven open event wins to his name this season and started as last man in the popular Pontypool RCC event.
Despite a tough headwind on the return leg Gibbard posted a winning time of 19.07. The win was made extra special for the 41-year-old after beating coach Conrad Moss (Nopinz) into second by 11 seconds.
In a stacked field with 96 male finishers Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) completed an all-veteran podium taking third in 19.53.
