There are many unusual things that happen in the world of quantum physics.

Recently, a group of physicists figured out how to measure the strange W state of quantum entanglement. Physicists have theorized, discussed, and even dreamed about its potential for years. But now, for the first time, scientists from Japan at Kyoto University and Hiroshima University have measured it. Their work has been recently published in Science Advances (https://doi.org/10.1126/sciadv.adx4180).

To comprehend their work, we must first grasp what quantum entanglement is.

Two photons or electrons are connected in such a way that when one changes, the other does too. They are connected by an unseen tie, even though they are millions of light-years apart. Physicists refer to this phenomenon as quantum entanglement. Scientists once believed that quantum entanglement was impossible; Einstein called it “spooky action at a distance”. But, in nowadays scientist prove that this weird phenomena plays a pivotal role in quantum communication. The problem is that it's difficult to measure or regulate this quantum entanglement state.
