INDIA IS on course for cataclysmic climate events, says a new study in PLOS Climate.

India's average temperature has risen by nearly 0.9°C in 2015-24 compared to 1901-30, notes the paper. This is leading to more frequent and intense heatwaves, with the number of "Warm Days" increasing by 5-10 days per decade across most of the country.
