If you often find yourself lying awake into the small hours, with thoughts and to-do lists whizzing endlessly around your mind, you're not alone. In the UK, a 2024 study in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal found that almost one in five people aren't getting enough sleep, while the 2022 study 'Need for Sleep' revealed that 14 per cent were getting an average of less than five hours' sleep a night – a dangerously low level.
