THIS SPRING, BALANCE ACTION WITH REST
Spirituality & Health
|March/April 2025
There is a pervasive form of contemporary violence to which the idealist ... most easily succumbs: activism and overwork.—Thomas Merton
-

IT SEEMS A LITTLE ODD to be writing about violence during spring, a season when life emerges with new possibilities of purpose and hope. It also tends to spur on a flurry of activity. Like a beehive, we come forth with wings to spread, intent on getting things done, after being enclosed in our hives for wintertime. We emerge buzzing, flitting about looking for our next adventure, project, or whatever shiny object catches our attention.
We can feel our energy ramping up for what is sure to be a fulfilling and fruitful time for ourselves and those we serve. I know I have often felt this and moved quickly into action because I recognize there is still work to be done for planet Earth. Healing; liberation; racial, economic, and environmental justice; love; dismantling any form of oppression; enhanced focus on caring for my own health and well-being; satisfaction in my job; deeper and more enriching relationships ... my list seems never-ending. How about yours?

MUCH ADO ABOUT MIRACLES
Q: I’m reading Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, a must-read for spiritual seekers. Yet he seems quite gullible about his gurus’ miracles. On the other hand, I never question Christ's miracles in the gospels. Am I just biased?
