THE RHYTHM IS GOING TO GET YOU
-
Not content with fusing Tetris and VR to great effect, Tetsuya Mizuguchi and his talented team at Enhance have pulled off the same trick again with his long-running puzzle series.
The most important thing to realise about Lumines Arise is that Mizuguchi and his team haven't dramatically reinvented it - because let's face it, there's no real need to. While it's not quite as simplistic as the brilliantly designed Tetris is, Lumines’ core gameplay remains arguably as compelling and that certainly hasn't really been tinkered with for Arise.
As a result you'll be manipulating your dual-coloured squares and trying to form larger blocks of the same colour before the game's Timeline sweeps across the screen and erases them, hopefully resulting in additional combos as new blocks form. It’s a great concept and the new mechanics of Arise enhance, rather than simply change it.
