Game On

Poco, the mid-priced smartphone sub-brand from Xiaomi, has been well-established in the phone market, and the F5 is the latest from the brand. This phone boasts an uncompromising set of features in a fairly affordable device.

Design and Build Quality

The Poco F5 is a lightweight device, weighing 181g. The device has a polycarbonate exterior extending to the glossy back surface. The phone is available in Carbon Black, Electric Blue and Snowstorm White finishes. The first two have a plain design, while the Snowstorm White design that we received has a shiny snow-like pattern beneath the clear panel at the rear. The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass. The phone offers a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device measures 161.11x74.95x7.98 mm.

Key Features

The greatest highlight of this device is the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC that powers it. This octa-core processor is fabricated using 4nm process, which improves the power efficiency. The phone uses 3725 mm2 vapour chamber cooling with 14 graphite layers and multi-channel steam diversion grooves for efficient heat dissipation, making it a robust gaming machine at an affordable price range. The device comes in two variants, with 8GB and 12GB, LPDDR5 RAM with additional 7GB virtual RAM. Both the variants provide 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone uses a 6.67-inch FHD+ (2400x1080) 12-bit display that offers adaptive refresh rates peaking at 120Hz. It offers 1000 Nits of peak brightness and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut. The display is Dolby Vision certified for Netflix and HDR10+ certified for Amazon Prime Video.
