PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday urged female legislators in the country to continue advancing the interests of women, saying that many women and girls continue to wait for the “promise of opportunity which remains distant due to poverty, violence, and traditions” that deny them their rights.

- JOCELYN REYES

During the oathtaking of the newly elected officers of the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc. (AWLFI) of the 20th Congress in Malacañang, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue empowering women and protecting their rights.

Marcos emphasized that gender equality, women's empowerment and social protection know no partisanship as he acknowledged the AWLFI efforts and contributions to promote and protect women’s rights and support for the government's endeavors.

“Continue to empower our women — mothers, workers, teachers, leaders, and girls who dream of a brighter future,” he said.

RUNNING was no longer merely a movement of the body in order to affect health (or escape predators); it became a movement of communities in order to effect social change, especially in key urban centers across the country.
