Year-long scheme to improve safety at roundabout to start

Controversial plans to alter the busy Lawnswood roundabout junction in Leeds are set to get under way on Monday.
Work is expected to last about a year.
Connecting the A6120 Outer Ring Road and A660 Otley Road, Lawnswood roundabout is one of the busiest junctions in north Leeds, with almost 50,000 vehicles a day using it.
Leeds City Council says the A660 corridor has a high volume of cyclists, pedestrians and bus users, but lacks adequate crossing facilities - an issue as it is close to Lawnswood school.
Between 2020 and 2024, a total of 25 people were injured in accidents at the junction-with six seriously hurt.
