Work takes its toll on mental health of Leeds workers

A quarter (25 per cent) of UK employees - an estimated 8.5 million people - feel that work negatively affects their mental health and more than a third (34 per cent) of those impacted said they are likely to quit their job in the next 12 months, according to new CIPD research.

The annual CIPD Good Work Index analyses the day-to-day experiences of over 5,000 UK workers.

The latest findings highlight the urgent need for employers to prioritise good people management and employee wellbeing, with excessive workloads, excessive pressure (stress), and the quality of line management among the strongest factors associated with unhealthy work.

Close to half (46 per cent) of UK employees have experienced a physical health condition over the past 12-months, while 42 per cent have experienced a mental health condition.
