Squid Game takes its final bow... but is this game over for good?

Squid Game takes its final bow... but is this game over for good?

Red light. Green light. The words of a classic childhood game are difficult to hear without thinking about Squid Game iconography - green tracksuits, masked guards, lots and lots of blood.

The South Korean thriller is a brutal criticism of how capitalism encourages sacrificing your morality to survive. Ironically, it has also been a capitalist smash-hit success.

In Squid Game, players compete in childhood games to win money and not lose their life. Each player's life is equated to 100,000,000 (around £53,645) and the more players that die the higher the cash prize.

For players, dying in the games is a more attractive prospect than living in financial uncertainty on the outside and so despite their trauma, or perhaps because of it, they keep playing.

I don't think Squid Game ever needed a season two, let alone a season three. I loved the first season but I felt that as the games ended, the story naturally had reached its close. But of course, Netflix were never going to let their most-watched show of all time only have one season.
