Parents welcome probe into baby deaths but urge police involvement

Parents who say they were "gaslit" or even blamed for the deaths of their babies have welcomed an investigation.

An independent probe has been launched into the maternity and neonatal services of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting, who met the families last Thursday, said he was "shocked" by their experiences of "repeated maternity failures in Leeds - made worse by the unacceptable response of the trust".

Mr Streeting said: "We have to give the families the honesty and accountability they deserve," adding: "This can't go on, it's time to deliver lasting change."

The families are waiting for details of the investigation to be confirmed, but feel the police should be involved.
