Only one out of the 'unlucky' 13 can win most prestigious prize

Ranging from a fierce road-trip novel set in Ukraine to a sweeping and lyrical examination of love and solitude in today's globalised world, the Booker Prize 2025 longlist embraces the astonishing breadth of the finest contemporary fiction.

There are 13 mighty novels on the longlist with the six-strong shortlist set to be revealed on Tuesday September 23 with the winner crowned on Monday November 10.

Nine of this year's 13 authors appear on the £50,000 prize longlist for the first time.

They appear alongside Malaysian author Tash Aw, who is longlisted for a third time and past shortlistees Andrew Miller and David Szalay.
