Work is drying up for American actor Brad Mac (Kiefer Sutherland) and his reluctance to perform his own stunts for the Killing Time franchise signals a death knell for the franchise.

Brad's manager (Katherine Ryan) persuades him to travel to the UK for a stint on stage and he imagines a career reinvention courtesy of Shakespeare's iambic pentameter.

Instead, Brad arrives in the small northern town of Stoneford to discover he has been cast as Buttons in a seasonal production of Cinderella, directed by Cassandra (Meera Syal).
