Murtagh adds a refereeing 'first' to his repertoire

Lee Murtagh is always keen to involve himself in new developments in the boxing world and recently took the train to Torquay and back to referee the first hybrid boxing show organised by promoter Lee Sibley and the World Boxing League.
"I love firsts in the sport," explained Murtagh, 52, who established Bethlehem Boxing Club in Richmond Hill, Leeds, in 2011. "I jumped at the chance to referee this hybrid boxing just as I'd been keen to get involved in the student fight nights at universities across England and referee at Misfits boxing events like at Leeds Arena.
"The main innovation at this hybrid show was that smaller gloves were worn.
