Kirkstall gym boxer Smith's all fired up for live-television bout

Boxer Codie Smith trains at Keith Walton's Kirkstall gym with Jack Bateson and will fight on the same bill as the latter faces his European title bout on the Dublin show that will be broadcast live on Channel 5.

Smith will box Mexican Mario Vera over six rounds, and trainer Walton said: "Codie's been constantly improving these past few months. "He's fully focused on September 5th and ready and raring to go. With the right guidance and the top promotional outfit that is Wasserman behind him, he's going to create a big impression in the UK boxing scene.
