I'm planning a holiday abroad, but I'm sick of flying. Is travelling by ferry and train instead a realistic alternative to this?

As the damaging effects of climate change affect all of us and the cost of living continues to rise, more travellers are re-thinking how they can travel to their holiday destinations.
Cheap flights might seem appealing, but the reality is that flying is not always a pleasant experience. Crowded airports, additional charges for luggage, the cost of getting to and from the airport, and delayed and cancelled flights have stripped the desire away from flying.
On top of this, air travel is very damaging to the planet. Aviation is one of the fastest-growing sources of carbon emissions, accounting for two per cent of all global emissions and rising, fast.
