East Leeds boxer Ward makes it three wins out of three as a professional

East Leeds boxer Ellis Ward is celebrating his third professional win having defeated veteran London boxer Lee Hallett in a welterweight contest on the recent open-air show at Wakefield Trinity organised by Manchester-based Steve Wood's VIP Promotions.

"It was great to be back in the ring," said Ward, aged 22, "I coped well with the sweltering heat. I was fortunate to have been to Tenerife for part of my training camp so that had helped me get used to boxing in heat, but it was baking in Wakefield.

"I'm proud to have been selected to box on such a quality card with a couple of national title fights."

Ward admits to having been a bit frustrated with some of the setbacks that have kept him out of the ring since winning his first two bouts last autumn.

"I'm grateful to my family who've supported me and helped me develop my career and to all those who purchase tickets," he added. "I'm also doing this for my two-year-old son Lorenz for whom I want to be the best possible role model. I can't wait until an opportunity comes to box in Leeds."
