Check your Christmas bin dates - and don't miss out

Leeds City Council is asking residents to make sure they put bins out on the correct day over Christmas and New Year - and to make use of their green bins to recycle as much as possible.

Leaflets have been sent out to households across the city to remind people when their collection days will be between Sunday December 21 and Sunday January 4.

Bin collection dates will return to normal on Monday January 5.

Aside from the bin collection dates, the Christmas bins messaging also includes guidance on the types of glass to be put in the green bin to be recycled. It also explains why batteries should not be disposed of in household bins as they can cause fires, so instead need to be taken to the nearest battery recycling collection point.

For any extra festive waste and packaging, household waste recycling centres will be open each day from 8am to 4pm except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
