Chad Powers (Disney+, from September 30) Glen Powell's star is on the rise at the moment; having made a big splash in Top Gun: Maverick, he's expected to leap onto the A list thanks to his participation in director Edgar Wright's revamp of Stephen King's novel The Running Man, playing the central role taken by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 movie version.

But before that, Powell is headlining a new comedy series that could turn out to be American football's answer to Ted Lasso. He portrays Russ Holliday, a self-centred former college quarterback whose promising career was brought to an abrupt and disgraceful end. Each episode follows Russ's efforts to get back in the game by reinventing himself as Chad Powers, who's about to have a trial for a new team.
