Sir Ed calls on PM to back West defence firm

> Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey speaking during Prime Minister's Questions
SIR Ed Davey confronted the Prime Minister in a heated exchange at Prime Minister's Questions in the House of Commons this week, urging him to invest in Yeovil-based defence firm Leonardo.
The leader of the Liberal Democrats asked: “Why won’t the Prime Minister just get on with buying great British helicopters made in the Westcountry?”
It comes after Leonardo - which owns a helicopter factory in the Somerset town employing 3,000 people - admitted it may have to close the factory after waiting 14 years for a Government contract.
The firm is currently the sole bidder for a £1 billion defence contract to deliver the Ministry of Defence's new medium-sized helicopters.
