Harrison reveals a £6m wage bill to Exeter fans
Western Morning News
|August 22, 2025
INTERIM chairman Clive Harrison told a packed Fans Forum that Exeter City have made a £1 million saving in cutbacks as a result of an ongoing review into finances at St James Park.
It was already known that manager Gary Caldwell’s playing budget for the 2025/26 season had been cut from what it was in January, but is at the same level as it was this time last year.
Women’s team boss Abbie Britton has also seen her budget cut, while redundancies within the backroom and football staff have also led to a considerable saving at the club.
Harrison started by addressing the packed Supporters Trust Suite - and hundreds watching online - about online abuse that he and some of his Trustees are said to have received and that it would not be tolerated in the room either and that Trust members would be permitted to one question with no followups allowed.
He then fronted a presentation from a script so he would not accidentally refer to any information he was advised not to by those that conducted the financial review and refer to facts.
His presentation referred to a cash flow issue in June which led to the Club Board requesting a £400,000 loan from the Supporters’ Trust before stating that the monthly salary of all employees at St James Park is £500,000 a month.
