Festival is scaled down due to funding shortfall

COUNCIL-BACKED festival celebrating Somerset’s remarkable coast has been scaled down due to a lack of funding.

The Somerset and Exmoor Coast Festival was first held in September 2023, with more than 80 events being staged to showcase Somerset's coastline and boost local businesses, many of which are dependent on seasonal trade.

Somerset Council announced last Thursday that the ‘80 miles in eight days’ event would be returning between September 28 and October 5, with participants walking from Porlock to Brean Down to raise money for coastal primary schools, but the council has confirmed that the wider festival will not be going ahead, citing a lack of funding from its partners.
