Farage’s alarming style of leadership
Western Morning News
|July 29, 2025
STUART Eels (Letters, July 24) berates other correspondents for “not telling the whole story... and stopping when it suits their bias” The mote in whose eye?
-
To blame others (‘Theresa May and Boris Johnson), as Mr Eels does, for the self-harm that is integral to the Farage-Brexit monstrosity is to misdirect the analysis.
Brexit was concocted as a vehicle for Nigel’s need for “a bandwagon on which I can strut’:
What did Brexit achieve? The national economy has been reduced by at least 4% (£100 billion). Goods exports went rapidly down by 30% and have settled at minus 15% of what they should be. Small and medium-sized firms suffered especially. Families losing at least £1,000 per annum. “Exports” in the management and advertising spheres have done better, but these are not the traditional occupations in which Farage promised he would achieve magic.
