County award is hailed by tattoo studio entrepreneur
Western Morning News
|December 18, 2025
A RURAL tattoo artist has made a permanent mark on the industry after her Devon venture was named as the best in the county.
Emma Martin, owner of Wild Earth Tattoo Studio in Yeoford, near Crediton, was left stunned when her private studio was announced as the winner of Best Tattoo Shop in Devon at the 2025 Englands Business Awards show.
Having opened the premises in August 2024, the recognition came as a complete surprise to the artist, who had originally been put forward for the accolade by a client rather than entering herself.
The award process is rigorous, scrutinising nominees through everything from public votes to secret shopping exercises.
"I was in complete shock," Emma said. "I had only been open for just over a year at that time and had been thrilled just to be nominated. I certainly didn't expect to win a regional final. It's humbling to think that someone thinks so highly of you that they go out of their way to do something for you that is of no benefit to themselves. I am genuinely grateful."
