"Unrecognisable" to her and wasn’t the party she had joined.

She said: "I can no longer justify on the doorsteps Conservatives policies that were happening, or deal with the membership and face them and justify what the party were doing.

It’s a tough decision obviously, to be here today. Like any breakup, there are some good bits, and some good people I will miss in Westminster - colleagues and members. I always hold them in high regard, but this isn’t about them - this is bigger than that. This is what's right for the people of Wales, the people of Britain.

"I truly believe I have joined a party today in Reform UK that listens to people. It is listening to the people of Great Britain, it speaks to me, and I know it speaks many people about the values it offers and what it wants to see done.

"Wales is a complete mess. We've the worst educational outcomes, we've got health statistics that are the worst in the UK, farmers are getting battered, older people are getting battered and vulnerable people are getting battered, and we can’t have this go on.

"I truly believe Reform is the one, with this great one at the helm - it’s good to be here with him today - that is saying all the right things, and I believe this party can take Wales forward to a great place.

Ms Jones said: “Wales needs Reform” and that she felt “part of the solution not the problem”.

“Let's reform Cymru,” she said. “I am here today because the Conservatives are not listening to members”.

She also said the Conservative Party “has forgotten how to be Conservative.”

Mr Farage told journalists he still did not know who the leader in Wales would be, but said “all in good time” He said Ms Jones brought “conviction” and “passion”.
