WALES SUFFER EXIT AS CHAMPS ROAR ON
Western Mail
|July 14, 2025
WALES were last night knocked out of Euro 2025 after losing to England in the final game of the group stages.
Striker Hannah Cain grabbed Wales' only goal, a consolation effort which was met with rapturous cheers from the Red Wall.
Appearing in their first-ever major tournament, Wales achieved so much just by qualifying.
But on the final night of their Euros, they were put to the sword by a dominant England side.
Chelsea star Lauren James ran the show in the first half, causing any number of issues for Wales along the right-hand side.
Her physicality and footwork were superlative, and she very much orchestrated play.
James received huge applause when she left the field on the hour mark, having barely put a foot wrong.
