Wales role not on agenda for Thomas at this time
Western Mail
|September 18, 2025
FORMER Cardiff hooker Rhys Thomas says he's happy at Gloucester and won't be returning to Wales as part of Steve Tandy's backroom team.
Thomas was part of Matt Sherratt's coaching ticket out in Japan this summer, with the former Wales star taking a secondment from his role with the Cherry & Whites.
Tandy appointed Danny Wilson to his staff last week, but Thomas (pictured) won't be joining him, with the 43-year-old more than happy with his lot at Kingsholm.
"My day job is here. I came over to England to get Prem experience and I am really enjoying it," he said to the BBC.
"I have another couple of years here after agreeing [a new contract] last year.
"Hopefully one day I can take that Prem experience to wherever is next, but I am happy doing what I am doing."
Thomas says he was grateful to the PREM club for allowing him to link up with his country - firstly at the back end of the Six Nations following Warren Gatland's departure, and out in the Far East.
