Van der Flier says no hard feelings on Lions

JOSH van der Flier has opened up on the conversation that led to Jac Morgan being chosen ahead of him for the British and Irish Lions Test matches this summer - and revealed how he’s using the setback as motivation.

‘The Ireland flanker, a former World Player of the Year, was one of the standout performers in the buildup to the Lions’ three-Test series in Australia.

But when it came to selection, head coach Andy Farrell opted for England’s Tom Curry to start all three games, with Morgan and Ben Earl preferred among the back-row replacements.

Speaking to Irish media, van der Flier admitted it came down to a gut call from Farrell.

“1 got a good chat with him,” he said.
