Uplifting festival ends on quiet note of reflection

COWBRIDGE Festival's final concert at Holy Cross Church was a requiem - a mass for the dead to close a festi- val that is very much alive.

Following a week-and-a-bit of music, ranging from folk and jazz to West End favourites and classical gems, packed houses made this the most successful programme since the pandemic.
For many festival-goers - myself included - the heart of the festival is the main venue itself. With its stone walls, atmospheric lighting and natural acoustics, it's the perfect setting for intimate performances.
The final evening began with a particular highlight: the world premiere of Mi Gerddaf Gyda Thi (I'll Walk With You) by Welsh composer John Metcalf. This five-minute choral work was a burst of sunshine,
