Tributes pour in for former SA women's star Dumke

SOUTH Africa international Lusanda Dumke has died at the age of 29 following a battle with a rare gastric cancer.

The back-row had stepped away from rugby back in August to focus on her health. Unfortunately, her club, the Izuzu Bulls Daisies, confirmed the sad news of her passing yesterday.
Dumke had been the captain of the franchise since its inception in 2023, leading the team to three consecutive Women's Premier Division titles, including the 2025 championship.
She made 31 appearances for the Daisies, while she also played 33 times for the Springbok women's team - captaining her country on three occasions.
Named SA Rugby's women's player of the year in 2022, Dumke also played for the Springbok sevens team.
