Support for Labour slumps to new low – poll
Western Mail
|October 29, 2025
ANOTHER dire poll suggests Labour has fallen to its lowest -ever rating and reveals that just 17% of voters would back the party if a general election were held today.
The polling, from YouGoy, said half of all voters who backed Labour at the last general election have deserted the party since it has been in government.
It comes after a disastrous week for the party following a sobering result at the Caerphilly by-election.
Labour came a distant third, behind Plaid Cymru and Reform, with their vote share plummeting by 35% since the last election in 2021.
The historic by-election result demonstrated that Labour is haemorrhaging support to Plaid Cymru, who won almost half of the vote.
The new, October 26-27, poll is the worst result for Labour recorded by YouGoy, and shows voters abandoning the party for Reform and the Greens.
Reform UK comfortably leads the weekly poll for Sky News and The Times, which asked more than 2,300 voters: “If there were a general election held tomorrow, which party would you vote for?” with 27% saying they would back Nigel Farage’s party.
