Semi-pro side 'could be entered into URC'

WELSH Rugby Union chair Richard Collier-Keywood says they are considering entering a Super Rygbi Cymru club into the United Rugby Championship next season as a contingency plan.
The WRU are in the process of reducing the number of professional teams in Wales from four to three but what complicates matters is the fact the governing body are contracted to provide four clubs into the URC.
As it stands the URC are resistant to a league with an odd number of teams, meaning the WRU may have to put in a semiprofessional SRC team for a short time if it can successfully reduce to three regions before next season.
The union has admitted entering a regional side that is being "wound down" would be very difficult so another solution may well need to be found.
