As a new poll released this week puts the two parties just 1% apart for next year's Senedd election, Plaid's leader Rhun ap Iorwerth speaks to Political editor Ruth Mosalski

P LAID CYMRU'S leader, Rhun ap Iorwerth, has said the latest poll putting his party on track to win the most seats in next May's Senedd election shows his party is the only way Reform UK can be beaten.
A poll by YouGov for ITV Cymru Wales/Barn Cymru puts Plaid Cymru with 30% of the vote, and Reform UK in second with 29%. Labour slump to just 14% of the vote share, which could translate to a low of 11 seats in the new-look 96-seat Parliament.
It would be a huge electoral defeat for Welsh Labour, and one some are now suggesting could put real pressure on Keir Starmer, as we report today.
Speaking to the Western Mail yesterday, the Plaid Cymru leader said: "It's a very significant poll. It's showing Plaid Cymru in the lead again, but it's also showing a real collapse in support for Labour.
