REDS BOSS SEEKS ANSWERS AT BACK

LANELLI Town boss Lee John knows he has to sort out his defence if his newly-promoted side is to survive in the JD Cymru Premier this season.

‘The Reds were hit for six by reigning champions The New Saints at Park Hall to take the tally of goals they have conceded in their first seven games back in the top flight to 26.

“We keep saying we need to take points, and we do, and we keep saying we need to learn lessons, and we have been doing that as the season has gone on,’ said John.

“We've had some good performances in patches, but ultimately we're not defending our box weil enough to stay in games for longer periods.

“We have to achieve that to be competitive at this level.

“At halftime when it was only 2-0 we still felt there was hope, but by the 46th minute we were three down from another set-piece.

“But just look at the quality TNS have in their squad.

“They have five or six players out on loan and their striker cost more than my overall budget for the season.

“We knew we were going to be in for a tough battle and they are an excellent team, well drilled and relentless.”

TNS manager Craig Harrison was delighted with the result, but unhappy his side didn’t score more goals. They hit the woodwork twice, had another disallowed and created numerous chances

“Itwas a great result for us, we were strong all over the pitch,” said Harrison.
