Pressure is on for Labour to deliver

THE problem, when you put all your eggs in one basket, is that if one of them breaks, it makes a mess everywhere - and leaves you short for whatever recipe you had in mind.

So by putting so much emphasis on the NHS, the Welsh Labour government needs to deliver.

Improving healthcare has been a key pledge of First Minister Eluned Morgan in her 13 months in charge, and she had responsibility for health before that.

Various party leaders have made lots of promises about the NHS over the years. In June, Health Minister Jeremy Miles made three key pledges:

1. To reduce the overall size of the waiting list by 200,000;

2. To eliminate all two-year waits; and,

3. To “restore the diagnostic wait times to be reduced to under eight weeks by March 2026”.
