Nandy breached code with watchdog appointment
Western Mail
|November 07, 2025
CULTURE Secretary Lisa Nandy has said she has been found to have breached the governance code on public appointments with her pick for the chairman of a new football watchdog.
-
The UK Government's appointment of David Kogan as chairman of the watchdog made three breaches of the Governance Code, the independent Commissioner for Public Appointments found.
Firstly, Ms Nandy failed to declare Mr Kogan had donated to her leadership campaign before selecting him as the preferred candidate, Sir William Shawcross said in a report.
Secondly, a potential conflict of interest was not discussed with Mr Kogan at interview.
