McFly star pays tribute to runner, 25, who died

Two musical stars have recorded a special song in tribute to a young runner who died after collapsing only 100 metres from the finish line of a half-marathon.

Kory Russell, 25, from Sully, was one of 16,000 entrants in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London in October this year.

Mr Russell, who worked in finance in the capital, suffered a cardiac arrest and was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McFly singer Tom Fletcher and James Hameed, fellow star of West End show Paddington The Musical, recorded a song which was played at his funeral in Cardiff on Friday, November 28.

His father Matt said: “As a family we are devastated at losing Kory, especially in such sudden and unexpected circumstances. Our loss is immeasurable.
