Best friend pays tribute to 'proud veteran' Gareth
Western Mail
|November 22, 2025
A MOVING tribute has been issued by the best friend of a Welsh veteran who was missing for more than a week before police then tragically found his body.
An appeal to help locate Gareth Perkins, a 46-year-old veteran from Llandysul, Ceredigion, was launched by South Wales Police last week who said he was last seen in the Resolven area of Neath Port Talbot on November 7.
As part of the appeal, police said Mr Perkins liked to frequent the mountains around Resolven and Melincourt.
On Monday, November 18, it was confirmed that a body had been found during their searches.
His friends and family said they now have to face the "unimaginable loss" of a "special person" who "enjoyed life to the fullest."
