A taste of victory is vital as change looms

THE announcement that they are going to go down to three regions, or areas, or whatever it will be - the timing could have been better, to say the least, before the Autumn Internationals. But I guess we all knew it was coming at some point.

The main thing is that the Welsh squad is able to focus, hopefully, and go out and get out a couple of wins from a very tough autumn campaign.

There's four games, we're playing the world champions, we're playing New Zealand, who are always one of the best teams in the world, and Argentina as well, who are at a different level, and Japan.

Japan are not as strong as they were from the period of 2015-19 World Cup, but certainly still a pretty formidable opponent. If Wales beat Japan, it will be something to savour, but to show a bit of success, it would be two wins.
