By pure luck, two weeks ago, we replenished our heating oil tank. 1,000 litres of oil costing some £600. Rachel Reeves took 5% of that for the Treasury.
In our inbox this morning was an offer from one of the fuel suppliers for 1,000 litres costing £1,450. Rachel would have taken her 5% for the Treasury, a win-win situation for the Chancellor.
