Residents in 'posh village' in battle to protect pub

RESIDENTS in a Wiltshire village named one of poshest in Britain are fighting to protect their last pub.

Villagers in Biddestone have applied to register The White Horse Inn as an Asset of Community Value.

The listing would mean that should the owners - Solihull-based Stonegate Pub Company - decide to sell the pub, Wiltshire Council must be notified and the community would be given a shot at buying it.

In the past 25 years Biddestone has lost its village shop and post office, and its other pub - The Biddestone Arms - which has been turned into seven houses.
