A TIGER rescued from illegal trafficking has moved into his new home at a West zoo.

- CLAIRE HAYHURST

Aqua was one of nine tigers saved by international animal welfare charity AAP (Animal Advocacy and Protection) at the Poland and Belatus border in October 2019.

‘The tigers, found crammed into a horsebox by border officials, were rehabilitated at the charity's rescue centre in Villena, Spain.

Six years later, Aqua has become the final tiger of the rescued pack to find a permanent home.

He moved into his purpose-built habitat at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall, in North Somerset, a week ago and keepers say he is settling in well.

Larry Bush, director of the attraction, said: “We're incredibly proud to welcome Aqua to Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, continuing our conservation of endangered species.
