Record-priced ram lamb to join West Country flock

LAMB ewes were in demand at the Hampshire Down Sheep Breeders’ Association (HDSBA) sale last Saturday, with three vendors securing bids of 2,000gns.

However, it was a ram lamb that topped the trade at Borderway Mart in Carlisle with a record price tag of 3,500gns making the long journey from Whitland in Pembrokeshire worthwhile for owner Steffan Harries and his family.

Llainterfyn Stand Out has figures in the top 10% for eight-week weight, top 25% for TSI and Maternal Index and was male champion at the 2025 Royal Welsh Show. By Glanrafon Spare Rib, this lamb will make his way back to the Derryman family in Devon for their Yarcombe flock based near Honiton, after spotting him when Phillip Derryman judged the breed classes at Royal Welsh.
