THE Prime Minister said there should be “proper scrutiny’ of Prince Andrew's rent-free mansion, in response to calls for a parliamentary inquiry.

Sir Keir Starmer was asked to back the establishment of a committee which could call Andrew to give evidence to Parliament. His comments came in response to Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey, who asked whether “given the revelations about Royal Lodge” Sir Keir believed that MPs should “properly scrutinise the Crown Estate to ensure taxpayers’ interests are protected”.

Sir Ed said: “Will the Prime Minister support a select committee inquiry, so all those involved can be called for evidence, including the current occupant?”
