PAT Lam has revealed why Bristol Bears second row Joe Batley will not captain England A against an All Blacks XV today - having initially been announced as the team skipper, writes John Evely.
Batley’s attempts to pull on the Red Rose over the last year have come with a series of challenges, arriving at international camp last Autumn with a broken leg from the Bears’ 10-10 draw against Australia A the week before, while a toe injury in January ruled the 29-year-old out of the clash with Ireland A, and a knee injury in the Gallagher Prem semifinal defeat to Bath sidel
