Housing plan near old farm rejected

EARLY-STAGE plans to build five houses next to a 17th-century farmhouse have been rejected by planners.

The owners of the historic Praters Farm in Sherston, near Malmesbury, applied for permission in principle to build five houses on a 0.28-hectare piece of agricultural land west of the farm complex. The farm is no longer operational, and the buildings and land have been sold off and converted.

Praters Farm comprises a grade II-listed early and late 17th-century farmhouse, a grade II-listed 17th-century and 20th-century reconstructed cruciform barn ~ now a studio — and a rectangular outbuilding along the southern boundary.
