Factory staff strikes could affect major sports events

MAJOR sports tournaments could be affected this spring as workers at a leading sports textiles manufacturer in Gloucestershire go on strike over a pay dispute.

WSP Textiles, which has factories in both Stroud and Dursley, produces some of the most famous sporting cloth in the world.
The company's tennis ball felt is used by manufacturers such as Wilson, Slazenger and Dunlop, at tournaments including Wimbledon, and the Australian and French Opens.
Meanwhile, their snooker baize is used to cover tables across the globe, and used in World Snooker Tour tournaments in the UK, USA and China.
