Del Boy's iconic car flies over the English Channel

In the classic TV series Only Fools and Horses, Del Boy's famous yellow Reliant Robin was the butt of many jokes for its performance on the roads.

But a paramotor pilot has now shown that it handles much better in the air after he flew it over the English Channel.

David Messenger, 56, organised the 47-strong paramotor flyover to raise money for the Veterans Charity "the largest formation of aircraft since the Second World War".

They were led from Calais to Dover by an adapted paramotor engine attached to the back of the shell of a replica of Del Boy's three-wheeled car in Only Fools and Horses.

Although set in Peckham in south London, much of Only Fools and Horses was filmed in Bristol.

It took David and his friend Bobby Frankham, 59 - who was behind the wheel - a couple of months to build - using an original Reliant.
