Couple's first home burns down before they move in

A BLAZE burned down a Somerset couple's cabin home - just days before they were due to move in.

Lyla Griffin, 18, and boyfriend Neo Stamp, 19, were gifted a wooden cabin near Yeovil, and its land by her father Matty Griffin.

But in the early hours of Tuesday, October 28, fire crews raced to the property in Chilthorne Domer after a passerby spotted smoke coming from the cabin.

The cabin, which cost £60,000, was already kitted out with furniture, electronics and sentimental items ready to host the couple - but the family say they have “lost everything” as it was not insured.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up to support the family following the “devastating” blaze.

At the time of the fire, Lyla was housesitting puppies in Winchester and staying at her grandma's house.

Her dad managed to get to the cabin within 10 minutes of receiving the call, but it was too late as it was already engulfed in flames.
